Curriculum Vitae

Research

My research includes collaboration with physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons, and area clinicians to investigate pathological issues from an anatomical and biomechanical perspective. Current research involves the development of a novel surgical approach for treatment of patients with greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS), and mapping of the dorsal scapular nerve in relation to the levator scapulae muscle.  Others areas of interest include the integration of computer-based instructional materials into the medical and graduate school curricula.

.

Outreach

I am also involved in numerous K-12 outreach programs for teachers and students in area public schools. These programs are designed to get young students interested in science and medicine as education and career choices. Students and teachers are brought to the health science center to participate in a variety of workshops that expose them to unique opportunities found only at a medical and/or graduate school environment. Workshops for K-12 teachers and students include lecture and laboratory sessions in anatomy, histology and physiology.  Funding for these programs has been generously provided by agencies including the National Science Foundation, JP Morgan Chase Foundation, and US Department of Veterans Affairs.
