Preparing for the new semester, participants will explore effective strategies to enhance course design and student engagement.  

In this one-hour training session aimed at higher education professionals preparing for the new semester in December, participants will explore effective strategies to enhance course design and student engagement. The session will begin with an overview of the importance of thoughtful course design in promoting student learning outcomes and retention. Key topics will include aligning course objectives with assessments, integrating active learning techniques, and leveraging technology for enhanced student interaction and feedback. Practical examples and case studies will illustrate successful implementations of these strategies across various disciplines. Participants will also discuss ways to create inclusive learning environments and manage student expectations effectively. The session will conclude with a collaborative discussion and Q&A session to address specific challenges and opportunities for course improvement in the upcoming semester.   

 Objectives:  

• Identify the significance of thoughtful course design in promoting student learning outcomes and retention.  

• Discuss the importance of aligning objectives to assessments. 

• Discuss methods for creating inclusive learning environments and manage student expectations.
