Campus Resources:
TCOM Office of Medical Student Success is the centralized portal for all TCOM Career Development Office, Careers in Medicine (CiM) program, AAMC CiM tokens, Match process and residency-related resources. The goal of TCOM Career Development is for each student to select, apply, and be accepted to the residency program of their choice—they are available to assist every step of the way! Although a separate office within the institution, TCOM Career Development and the Career Readiness Center engage in numerous collaborative activities and programs in order to provide optimal career resources throughout your education at HSC and beyond.
TCOM Career Development can help you consolidate everything you need in pursuit of residency training toward becoming a board-certified osteopathic physician. You will find helpful information about the Match process, how to get started on your CV and personal statement, presentations to download and review, a student’s FAQ page, yearly checklists to make sure you’re on the right track, and much more! They will post information about upcoming workshops and speaker events as well, so check back often. For Military Match Applicants:
MODS – Medical Operational Data System
Military Students have found success in the Military Match through being proactive in obtaining information related to specific guidelines and procedures put in place for those participating in the military match by their respective branches. It is imperative that military students are in contact with their branch representative and find additional guidance via the Military GME sites:
- Air Force: https://www.airforcemedicine.af.mil/Organizations/Physician-Education-Branch/
- Army: http://www.mods.army.mil/medicaleducation/
- Navy: https://www.med.navy.mil/sites/nmcsd/Pages/Staff/training/training.aspx
TCOM Students generally choose one of two primary options regarding their residency options:
- Active duty residency/military residency programs. If selected for a military residency program, you will train within one of the military hospitals in the United States.
- Civilian deferred residency. The military sometimes allows military student doctors the option to pursue their specialty in either the AOA or NRMP Match.
The Medical Student Sucess / ERAS Office will submit the following documents to MODS upon your request:
- Medical School Transcript
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE/Dean’s Letter)
- Letters of Recommendation (Note: The military has specific formatting requirements for LOR’s that are separate from ERAS and other systems).
