Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR)

Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program is a summer research opportunity that provides TCOM students (entering Year-II) an educational experience in aging-related research under the guidance of top experts in geriatrics and aging. Students participating in MSTAR gain an introduction to research and academic experiences early in their training that they might not otherwise have during medical school. Students participate in research didactics, clinical shadowing in outpatient settings, community events, and have the opportunity to submit and present their work at a local, state, or national professional conference. This is a unique opportunity for early exposure to research and clinical experiences that strengthen the residency application.
