HIV & Viral Hepatitis

HIV, Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) share similar routes of transmission. Of those with HIV, approximately 6-14% also have HBV infection and 25% also have HCV infection. The consequences of coinfection include quicker progression of liver disease, liver cirrhosis, end-stage liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma.
