November 6, 2023 • faculty, P&A
Anuradha Kalyanasundaram, PhD, joins the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences as assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and Anatomy.
Dr. Kalyanasundaram’s research has spanned several translational studies, which explored functional, structural and molecular mechanisms of human heart failure, human sinoatrial node pathophysiology and arrhythmias including catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. Her studies focus on understanding molecular and structural mechanisms of cardiac remodeling including fibrosis and fatty infiltrations in cardiometabolic diseases and cardiac arrhythmias.
Her research program will fill important gaps in identifying cell-specific mechanisms of cardiovascular remodeling as well as determine targets for therapeutic interventions and lifestyle modifications to improve cardiac function in vulnerable patient groups.
She received a PhD in Integrated Biomedical Sciences from the Ohio State University and pursued postdoctoral and independent studies determining mechanisms of human cardiovascular disease.
