Important dates for applying to be a student in our Spring and Fall 2025 enrollment:

  • Spring 2025: Applications open Aug. 8, 2024 and close on Nov. 1, 2024.
  • Fall 2025: Opens Nov. 1.2024 an closes Feb. 15, 2025.
  • Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET (10:59 p.m. CTI).

Admissions Requirements

  • Transfer of all 42 semester credit hours from the Texas Core Curriculum prior to course attendance at HSC.
  • Transfer 60 SCH of required BSN prerequisites with a grade of “C” or better by time of enrollment. (Some may count toward being Texas Core Complete.)
    • Anatomy & Physiology I (must include lab) – 4 SCH
    • Anatomy & Physiology II (must include lab) – 4 SCH
    • Microbiology (must include lab) – 4 SCH
    • Nutrition – 3 SCH
    • Introductory to Psychology – 3 SCH

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required. All grades earned at all schools attended will be calculated in the admission grade point average. A grade of C or better is required in all prerequisite courses.
  • All prerequisites must be completed by the time of enrollment. However, students can be provisionally accepted if their prerequisite and CORE courses are successfully completed by the time of enrollment (not at the time of application).
  • A minimum score of 60 on the Test of Essential Academic Skills or Health Education Systems Incorporated Admissions Assessment A2 (TEAS/HESI). Score of 70 in each category are considered competitive.
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check. Applicants are accepted to the College of Nursing pending a favorable criminal background check and drug screening. Accepted students are responsible for completing the background check and any associated financial costs.
  • Negative Drug Screening. Accepted students are responsible for completing the drug screening and any associated financial costs.
  • Payment of the NursingCAS application fee of $80.
  • Submission of two former faculty or employer references. (Submitted as part of NursingCAS)
  • Professional resume or Curriculum vitae (CV) (Submitted as part of NursingCAS).
  • Official transcripts (Unofficial not accepted) uploaded to NursingCAS.
