What will you be doing in your role at UNTHSC and your practice site?
I provide chronic disease management for patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, and I offer anticoagulation, transitions of care, and smoking cessation services.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a profession?
A career as a pharmacist offers opportunities to improve healthcare access and affordability, which are both very important to me. Ambulatory care is especially fun because it allows me to make long-lasting, trusting relationships with patients dealing with complex chronic diseases.
What do you enjoy most about being a pharmacist?
I love being a resource to my friends and family! It’s amazing how many times I’ll get a text message with a quick question about medication, which makes very clear how well-respected the advice of a pharmacist is. It’s nice to know people trust and desire your expertise, and my training as a pharmacist has allowed me to help people from all walks of life.
Fun fact: I love playing tennis and listening to true crime podcasts.
