Rolake Neba, PharmD, BCACP
Assistant Professor of Pharmacotherapy
Education & Experience:
I received my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Idaho State University College of Pharmacy in 2016. Upon graduation, I completed an ambulatory care focused community pharmacy residency at Baylor Scott and White Health in Dallas, TX. I went on to pursue a PGY2 in ambulatory care at Kaiser Permanente in Denver, CO. After completing my residency, I worked as an ambulatory care pharmacist at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Tyler, TX. I joined UNT System College of pharmacy faculty in December 2020.
Teaching Areas & Interests:
As a resident, I completed teaching certificate programs with the University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy and Colorado State University College of Pharmacy. I was given the opportunity to teach didactic lectures, facilitate case-based discussions and OSCEs, and precept pharmacy students. Most recently I have served as an ambulatory care preceptor for fourth year pharmacy students during their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations. My goal as an educator is to provide students with the tools needed to provide comprehensive and well-informed care for their patients.
Professional Activities & Awards:
My professional practice site is at Baylor Community Care Clinic in Fort Worth where I manage diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and anticoagulation for an underserved population. I also provide smoking cessation and transition of care services.
I am a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS), Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
Scholarly Interests:
My interests include cardiovascular risk reduction, anticoagulation management, behavioral health, and pain management. I am particularly interested in maximizing the impact of clinical pharmacists in low resource communities.
My most recent research focused on thyroid stimulating hormone stability in patients prescribed synthetic or desiccated thyroid products. I am looking forward to collaborating with pharmacy practice residents and serving as a research preceptor.
