UNT Health Science Center’s Dr. Melissa Lewis joins Helping Restore Ability’s Board of Directors
Fort Worth, Texas – Helping Restore Ability (HRA), a leading nonprofit organization focused on providing in-home non-medical care and home health care services to individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses, announced today that Dr. Melissa Lewis, an accomplished public health expert, and researcher, has joined the board of directors.
Dr. Lewis is the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Advancement and Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) and has an extensive behavioral health background. She holds a Ph.D. in Health and Social Psychology from North Dakota State University, an MS and BS degree in Psychology from Montana State University – Billings, and a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington’s Center for the Study of Health and Risk Behaviors.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lewis to our board of directors,” said HRA’s CEO, Vicki Niedermayer. “Her deep expertise in public health and her commitment to improving the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses will be invaluable as we continue to develop and implement innovative approaches to in-home health care services and increase the overall wellbeing of people with disabilities.”
As a member of HRA’s board of directors, Dr. Lewis will help guide the organization’s research and public health initiatives, working alongside Dr. Girish Shelke, Chief Research Officer, other board members, and community members of the research committee to identify new strategies for improving access to high-quality care for individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
