MPH Professional Option Degree Goes Online
September 27, 2012 • Uncategorized
To help students manage life, work and educational goals more conveniently, the College of Public Health has introduced online classes, and one of the first programs to feature a completely online experience is the Master of Public Health (MPH) Professional Option degree. This 42-semester-hour degree is geared toward professionals already working in their field who wish to gain additional public health knowledge. The program can be an excellent fit for doctors, lawyers, MBAs or professionals with other advanced degrees looking to add a general public health perspective to their credentials, as well as candidates currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program other than the MPH, or those with three or more years of work experience in the health professions.
Online courses are taught in an eight-week, accelerated format focusing on the core areas of public health as well as health policy and management, professionalism, ethics and leadership. Students also participate in “real world” public health internships, and there is opportunity to combine online courses with classroom studies on campus if preferred.
