PhD Student

Sophia Garza My research interests focus on advancing equitable and inclusive access to sexual healthcare, with particular attention to STD prevention and sexual violence prevention across women, the LGBTQIA+ community, and communities of color. I am especially interested in exploring the societal, political, and organizational barriers that hinder equitable access to and utilization of sexual health services and treatment within these historically marginalized groups. Additionally, I am dedicated to studying the psychology behind sexual and interpersonal violence and developing strategies to prevent such violence against women and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
