Histology Core Welcomes New Specialist

We are thrilled to welcome Tamara McInnis to the Histology Core team as our new Histology Specialist. With 14 years of research experience and expertise in histological techniques, Tamara is set to elevate our capabilities and bring fresh insights to research initiatives. Tamara is eager to collaborate with researchers at HSC and beyond, working to understand the needs and ensure the Core provides the essential resources and expertise to support the innovative work.

Histology Core acquires advanced new embedder

The Tissue-Tek® TEC™ 6, our latest addition to the Histology Core, facilitates the embedding of processed tissues into paraffin, allowing for the creation of precise paraffin blocks essential for subsequent sectioning. This advanced embedder ensures efficient and accurate tissue preparation, supporting high-quality histological analyses for researchers across various scientific disciplines.

Unveiling Precision: Sakura CryoFlex 3 Enhances Histology Core Capabilities

The Histology Core has recently elevated its capabilities by acquiring the state-of-the-art Sakura CryoFlex 3 Cryostat, representing a notable advancement in the facility's tissue processing abilities. This advanced instrument is designed specifically for frozen sectioning of tissues, delivering unmatched precision and efficiency in histological analyses. Boasting advanced features such as precise temperature control, a user-friendly interface, and an expanded capacity for producing high-quality frozen sections, the Sakura CryoFlex 3 emerges as an invaluable addition to the Histology Core.

Opening Soon – Histology Core

A new Histology Core Lab is set to open by end of January 2023, providing HSC researchers and external clients with a state-of-the-art resource for processing and analyzing tissue samples. The Core will be equipped with the latest technology, including an automated slide scanner, tissue processor, and a variety of staining and imaging techniques.
