Blue Angels Flight Surgeon to address UNTHSC
U.S. Navy "Blue Angels" Flight Surgeon Dr. Johannah Valentine will address the UNT Health Science Center on Friday, Oct. 23, in Library 110. She will relate her experience as a flight surgeon for the marines and for some of our country’s top aviators.
Dr. Valentine completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2006 and reported to Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute in Pensacola, Fla., for training as a flight surgeon. While in Pensacola, she completed an inter-service transfer to the U.S. Navy and was commissioned as a Lieutenant. She received her Naval Flight Surgeon wings in January 2007.
In February 2007, Dr. Valentine reported as the Flight Surgeon to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466 (HMH-466) "Wolfpack" at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, Calif., and provided medical support to more than 250 Marines. While with the "Wolfpack," she completed a deployment to Al Asad, Iraq.
She joined the Blue Angels in September 2008. Her decorations include the Strike/Flight Air Medal and various personal and unit awards.
Interestingly, Dr. Valentine will be flying over to the HSC by helicopter, landing next door at the old OMCT parking lot.
