Health Science Center hosts Neurobiology of Aging Trainee Symposium

 

The University of North Texas Health Science Center will host the 7th Annual Neurobiology of Aging Trainee Symposium beginning at 8:30 a.m. on May 1 in the Center for BioHealth (CBH on this campus map), Room 230. An overflow room will be in CBH 240 directly behind the main room. All presentations will be simulcast into the overflow room.

Morning trainee presentations will be followed at 12:30 p.m. by the keynote presentation of Dr. Bruce McEwen, National Academy of Science member and member of the Institute of Medicine who will address "Stress, Adaptation and Pathophysiology in Aging: Role of Circulating Hormones."

His findings relate to the impact of stress on the brain and sex differences in human brain function, abnormalities such as Alzheimer’s disease, depressive illness, post-traumatic stress disorder and the aging process.
