UNT Health Sports Medicine: Keeping athletes in the game
UNT Health’s Daniel Clearfield, DO (’07), and Alan Stockard, DO (’76), volunteer as team physicians to help ensure student athletes stay in the game … safely. A role they agree is growing even more important not only for athletes, but for everyone who risks injury.
"We know exercise improves health and helps prevent certain disease," said Stockard. "We want to encourage a healthy lifestyle, but there will be more risk of injuries just due to the sheer numbers of people who start exercising. Our job is to make sure we can keep everyone working out and healthy."
Clearfield and Stockard practice at UNT Health’s Bone & Joint Institute at the Ben Hogan Center on the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital campus. In addition to treating all sports injuries, he treats patients from the whole-body perspective embraced by osteopathic medicine, and uses osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT).
