2011 Health Disparities Conference scheduled for June 16-17

The 6th annual Texas Conference on Health Disparities focused on vision and its effect on society’s most vulnerable populations will be on June 16 and 17 at the UNT Health Science Center. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the Medical Education and Training Building.

The conference features several nationally known speakers, including keynote speaker
Eve Higginbotham, SM, MD, senior vice president and executive dean for Health Science at Howard University School of Medicine. Attendees will learn more about improving the vision health and reduce health disparities among vulnerable populations and the general population in Texas and the nation. The conference will form a framework to coordinate vision health initiatives across the public health infrastructure and vision community through prevention, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation.

Panel discussions and additional presentations will continue through Friday afternoon.
