Dr. Thomas Yorio honored with international research award
Thomas Yorio, PhD, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, has received the International Society for Eye Research 2014 Ernest H. Bárány Prize.
The award is given in recognition of Dr. Yorio’s outstanding contributions to research that have increased the understanding of ocular pharmacology.
Dr. Yorio said he shares the recognition with others.
"It is a great honor to receive this recognition, but no one achieves anything alone," he said. "I am fortunate to have worked with outstanding students, faculty and staff over the years, and therefore this represents team recognition."
The award will be presented in July at the XXI Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Eye Research in San Francisco, Calif.
The prize is presented to a distinguished scientist who has made outstanding contributions in research that increases the understanding of ocular pharmacology directly related or applicable to glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, or related retinal diseases.
