Dwight Yoakam to headline 2018 Legends Concert event

The Legends Concert Series, UNT Health Science Center’s signature fundraising event, will feature country music star Dwight Yoakam at its sixth anniversary presentation.

The benefit, presented by Chase and J.P. Morgan, will take place November 5 at Fort Worth’s famous Bass Performance Hall. The curtain will rise at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, June 29. Proceeds will go to the UNT Health Science Center Foundation to support student scholarships for UNTHSC’s talented health care and research leaders of tomorrow.

Chairs for the benefit event are Terri Anderson and Paul Dorman.

Sponsorships for the event still are available.

Dwight Yoakam is one of America’s most versatile singer-songwriters, musicians and actors. He has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and is a multiple Grammy Award winner.

Yoakam has recorded 12 gold albums and nine platinum albums, including five that topped Billboard’scountry chart and another 14 that landed in the Top 10. Nearly 40 of Yoakam’s singles have charted on Billboard, with 14 peaking in the Top 10.

He is also the recipient of the Artist of the Year award from the Americana Music Association, the most prestigious award offered by the organization.

In addition to his musical career, Yoakam is a formidable film and TV actor who has appeared in more than 40 feature films, including memorable roles in Sling Bladeand Panic Room.
