April 4 through 10 marks National Public Health Week (NPHW) 2022, a time for celebrating the many ways that public health makes communities healthier, stronger and safer. This year’s theme is “Public Health is Where You Are.”
The annual event is an initiative of the American Public Health Association (APHA). APHA, through its members and partnerships, is working to build the healthiest nation, community by community. Now in its 150th year, APHA champions the health of all people and communities, and works to strengthen the public health profession.
Daily themes for National Public Health Week 2022 include accessibility, climate change, community, mental wellness, public health work force, World Health Day and racism.
In joining this year’s celebration, the HSC Public Health Student Government Association (PHSGA) has planned speaker presentations about climate change and racism as a public health crisis, a film screening and discussion about the importance of the public health workforce, a virtual food drive with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, a World Health Day event and more.
PHSGA and the HSC School of Public Health invite everyone to join in this year’s celebration. For more information about this national event, visit National Public Health Week 2022.
