HSC Health expanded services on UNT Dallas campus for all students, staff, and faculty
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (HSC) has expanded clinical services provided by HSC Health, the clinical practice of HSC, to serve UNT Dallas’ students, staff, and faculty.
Since December of 2019, HSC Health has operated UNT Dallas’ Student Health Clinic utilizing telehealth appointments. Students would schedule an appointment online, physically go to the clinic on campus where a nurse would assist with their check-in, and then be virtually examined by a physician or physician assistant from HSC Health in Fort Worth.
“This partnership and establishment of the virtual care model proved to be exceptionally beneficial for UNT Dallas’ students as we navigated the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jessica Maack Rangel, MS, RN, FNAP, Senior Vice President of Clinical Innovation at HSC. “As the plan to return to campus progressed, we knew we needed to expand our services to meet the health care needs of the entire UNT Dallas community.”
In August of this year, Gladys Michieka, MPAS, PA-C, Advance Practice Professional, joined HSC Health and we were able to expand our scope of health care services to provide same and next day appointments both in-person and virtually for all students and employees of UNT Dallas and UNT Dallas College of Law.
“UNT Dallas is extremely excited about the partnership that we have with HSC and to be able to provide the services at little to no cost to our students and employees,” said Dr. Jose da Silva, UNT Dallas Assistant Vice President for Student Access and Success/Dean of Student Affairs. “Whether students have health insurance or not, our doors are open!”
