For the last six years, local leader Libby Watson has been active in supporting the public health and community outreach of UNT Health Science Center.

As immediate past Chair of the University’s Public Health and Prevention Council, she also is well known for her volunteer work with other organizations, including the Girls Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains.

Living overseas with her family in 1962, she was honored to represent the United States as a young model for the U.S.-Japan Girl Scout Friendship Statue, symbolizing international goodwill and the bonds of scouting.

After more than 50 years, she has traveled back to Japan to reunite with the Japanese  Girl Scout with whom she posed in the famous statue, shaking hands and forever uniting the American Girl Scouts with Japanese friends.
