Kurian Receives Community Service Award from UNT Health Science CenterAAsASs School of Public Health
Anita Kurian , MBBS, MPH, received the Leon Brachman Community Service Award from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
The award is given to the School of Public Health student who best exemplifies the ideals of academic excellence, leadership and community service. The honor is accompanied by a $250 monetary award as well as a plaque to be displayed on the health science center campus.
Kurian also was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Delta Omega, the National Honor Society for Public Health Students, and she took first place in the public health poster competition at the 14th annual Research Appreciation Day this year as well as second place in the public health oral competition.
Kurian is a native of Trivandrum, Kerala, India, and currently resides in Plano. She is a graduate of medical graduate from Karnataka Medical College in India. She earned a master of public health degree from Emory University. She is a doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health.
She received awards at the annual School of Public Health banquet on May 5.
