NTERI hosts international conference
The UNT Health Science Center and the North Texas Eye Research Institute will host an international conference February 17 – 20. The Association for Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AOPT) 10th Scientific Meeting, held in the Medical Education and Training Building, will focus on bringing together clinicians, academicians and industry scientists from around the globe to share new discoveries related to the treatment of ocular diseases.
The conference will feature 48 speakers and more than 80 abstracts. Bill Hauswirth, PhD, professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, will give the keynote address about advances in gene therapy for ocular disease. Other session topics include new developments in glaucoma therapy; macular degeneration; new approaches to drug delivery; ocular blood flow; ocular inflammation; diabetic retinopathy; neuroprotection; ocular gene and stem cell therapy; and biomarkers for ocular diseases and therapies.
Physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners may receive up to 17.75 continuing education units. Pre-registration is available through February 14 on the AOPT Web site and is open to the public.
