A passion for service
Welcome to a new classThe UNT System College of Pharmacy, located on the campus of UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, welcomed a new class of 110 students last week. In total, we’re educating 270 pharmacists of the future. The System College of Pharmacy produces professionals who embrace a team-based approach in caring for patients. |
Michael Jann, PharmD, has a passion for service.
That’s why Dr. Jann, a department chair and professor in the UNT System College of Pharmacy in Fort Worth, serves on the editorial boards for six professional journals, reviewing papers for publications and sharing knowledge of pharmaceutical therapies and drug development to improve patient care.
Dr. Jann recently was appointed to the editorial board of Journal of Pharmacy Practice.
In addition, Dr. Jann, Chair of Pharmacotherapy, serves on the editorial boards of:
- CNS (Central Nervous System) Drugs
- Molecular Diagnostics and Therapeutics
- The Consultant Pharmacist
- The Scientific World Journal – Pharmacology Section
- Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.
It’s all volunteer work. Not a walk-on volunteer job, but one that requires depth and breadth of knowledge in specific areas of therapeutics and drug development with a formal invitation from the editor-in-chief.
Similar to his service to the other journals, for JPP Dr. Jann will “provide input into editorial policy, recommend pharmacist experts to serve as either a guest editor for theme issues, author for continuing education articles or drug review articles, or referees for the peer review process,” Editor-in-Chief Henry Cohen, PharmD, wrote in a letter to Dr. Jann. “You will be asked to serve as a referee reviewing manuscripts in the peer-review process.”
Dr. Jann says he considers the appointment an honor: “I hope to be of service to the university, the pharmacy profession, the scientific community, and ultimately to the patient.”
