Shirley Little has been named Chair of UNT Health Science Center’s Public Health & Prevention Council, replacing outgoing Chair Libby Watson.

The Public Health & Prevention Council is one of three volunteer leadership groups supporting UNTHSC in outreach, partnerships and activities for a healthier community.

Ms. Little retired after 28 years with the City of Fort Worth, where she most recently managed Government Relations and Legislative Affairs. During her tenure, she also served as Chief of Staff for four Fort Worth mayors.

She has an extensive background in community, governmental, political and professional relationship management, communications and development.

For 14 years, she has taught both graduate and undergraduate management courses at Dallas Baptist University. In 2009, she was honored with Zonta DFW’s Woman of the Year in Education Award.

"The Council’s mission is to offer support, ideas and resources to UNTHSC and to foster new friends, advocates and relationships across North Texas for improved community health and well-being," Little said.

"Some of our top priorities include the Healthy Moms – Healthy Babies – Healthy Community initiative in Tarrant County and the annual North Texas Health Forum community conference that addresses important public health concerns impacting local citizens."
