Research Appreciation Day is April 23
Research Appreciation Day (RAD) melds medicine, public health and basic science in a presentation of new research conducted at the UNT Health Science Center’s Center for BioHealth. The research results are showcased during the day-long program, which is punctuated by a keynote address by Guest Speaker Brian Smedley, PhD, at 11:30 a.m. In addition to showcasing research, RAD encourages the development of joint research projects and increases the community’s awareness of the outstanding quality and range of research conducted at the Health Science Center.
More than 200 research projects will be shown at the event, sponsored by Alcon, Healthpoint and Quest Diagnostics. In addition, 20 vendors will be on hand to share information about their products and services.
Smedley will address "Building Stronger Communities for Better Health: Moving from Science to Policy to Practice" during the luncheon in Alcon Auditorium on the Health Science Center campus. Smedley is vice president and director of the Health Policy Institute of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington, DC, which began in 2002 with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The Institute focuses on exploring disparities in health and generating policy recommendations on health equity.
At the end of the day, a panel of judges will select the top poster and oral presentations in each of several categories.
