SACS officials visit campus
Representatives with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) will visit the UNT Health Science Center Tuesday, March 9, through Thursday, March 11, as the next-to-last step in the SACS reaffirmation process.
SACS reaffirmation helps ensure that the Health Science Center has the right people, programs and facilities in place to become a Top 10 health science center.
The visitors will meet with faculty, staff and students on Tuesday and Wednesday and conduct an exit briefing with the school’s leadership on Thursday. In addition, they will review HOT (Higher Order Thinking), the Health Science Center’s Quality Enhancement Plan, and selected compliance issues from the Compliance Certification Report and Focused Report. (For more information, click on "Reaffirmation of Accreditation.")
The SACS team will provide a report to the SACS Committees on Compliance and Reports, which will review it, along with any institutional response from the Health Science Center, and make recommendations on reaffirmation to the SACS Executive Council. The Executive Council is responsible for recommending action to the full Commission on Colleges of SACS. The commission makes the final decision on reaffirmation and any follow-up activities required by an institution.
The final reaffirmation decision will be announced at SACS’ annual meeting in Louisville, Ky., in December.
