Summit will bring primary care experts to campus
UNT Health Science Center, as it has annually for more than three decades, will host a meeting May 1-2 for primary care thought leaders to share best practices.
UNTHSC is considered a leader in primary care. Two-thirds of graduates of its Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine enter the primary care field.
This year’s Primary Care Summit will focus on these issues:
- Emerging trends that directly affect patients.
- Hands-on ways to meet specific challenges.
- Innovative learning formats to encourage a community of practice.
Presentation topics include medical marijuana, cancer in primary care and communication that fosters patient safety. In addition to primary medicine, presenters come from the fields of nursing, cardiology, sleep medicine, psychiatry, pharmacy, orthopedics, interprofessional education and practice, and more.
“The discussions at the Primary Care Summits improve patient care,” said Frank Filipetto, DO, TCOM Associate Dean. “The fact that we’ve been holding this conference for more than 30 years with so many community-based primary care providers attending speaks volumes about the type of education UNTHSC provides and its reputation for clinical expertise.”
Continuing medical education is available.
