Two from UNTHSC named ’40 under 40′ honorees
Jennifer Trevino and Elizabeth Trevino Dawson were recognized in the 40 Under 40 Class of 2010 by the Fort Worth Business Press. They were honored at an awards dinner Thursday evening at the Fort Worth Club.
Trevino, chief of staff to the president at the Health Science Center, handles day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and works with several initiatives both on and off campus. As an active member of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT), Trevino has mentored students in the Latinas in Progress program, raised funds for the annual HWNT Art Show & Silent Auction, and currently serves as the scholarship chair. She is a member of this year’s interview panel for Texas Christian University‘s Community Scholars program and is the business representative on the District Education Improvement Committee for Castleberry ISD. Trevino is also serving a three-year term on the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County Board of Directors.
Dawson, DrPH, is the assistant dean of the School of Public Health (SPH), the Master of Health Administration director and an assistant professor. Over the last few years, Dawson has been involved with the Fort Worth Northside Community Health Center, Inc., the first federally qualified community health center in Tarrant County. She is also a member of the United Way Health Council of Fort Worth and has held other appointments and memberships on local committees including a Fort Worth City Council appointment to serve as a commissioner of human relations. From 2001 to 2004, she was highly involved in the planning and coordination of the Hispanic Wellness Fair, serving over 12,000 people each year who lack access to healthcare.
