White Coat ceremony set for July 24
The Health Science Center will welcome 200 incoming Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) students and 70 incoming Physician Assistant Studies students into the medical profession at the annual White Coat Ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, at the Will Rogers Auditorium, 3401 West Lancaster.
Students will receive white coats symbolizing their careers in medicine. This event encourages a psychological contract for professionalism and empathy and the incoming students will take an oath acknowledging their responsibilities and willingness to assume the obligations of their new professions.
Janice Knebl, DO, professor of Internal Medicine, will present the keynote address. The Honorable J.D. Johnson, Tarrant County Commissioner, will receive the TCOM Founders’ Medal. Robert Lansford, senior trust advisor for private client services at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, will receive the Mary E. Luibel Distinguished Service Award.
