Gold Humanism Honor Society

Medical students, residents and faculty who are exemplars in their humanistic behaviors, their interpersonal skills, their commitment to service and in their compassionate attitudes toward others are eligible for membership. Membership for medical students is by peer nomination. Nomination and selection is limited to third-year medical students who are in good standing for both academics and conduct and noted for outstanding humanistic behaviors. Student selection shall be completed no later than the spring of their third year. The GHHS peer nomination form will be sent electronically and used to nominate medical students who are recognized by their peers and faculty as having demonstrated a commitment to humanism in medicine, exceptional clinical competence, and the highest standards of patient care. Up to 25%, representing those with the highest number of peer nominations are invited to apply. Only those who submit application materials will be considered for membership. GHHS honorees will represent no greater than 15% of their class (as determined by the Registrar of those currently enrolled at the time nominations are made). Upon reviewing the GHHS peer nomination forms, the GHHS Selection Committee, composed of the GHHS advisors, TCOM faculty and staff and two student GHHS members, will select the members.
