COMLEX-USA Performance Data

Administered by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing examination (COMLEX-USA) is a series of examinations designed to assess the competency of future osteopathic physicians and is required for physician licensure as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in the United States. In order to graduate from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, students must successfully pass Level 1 and Level 2. COMLEX-USA Level 3 is administered during the graduate medical education portion of their training.

Below is the first-time pass rate data for TCOM students and graduates.

COMLEX-USA Level 1
All TCOM students must pass COMLEX-USA Level 1 to continue to Year Three of the curriculum. Level 1 is designed to assess the application of the biomedical sciences through clinical presentations. The Level 1 exam includes anatomy, behavioral science, biochemistry, microbiology, osteopathic principles and practice, pathology, pharmacology and physiology.

COMLEX-USA Level 2 All TCOM students take this examination at the end of Year 3 of the curriculum. COMLEX-USA Level 2 is divided into two parts. The Cognitive Evaluation (CE) is an assessment of clinical competency which includes emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, osteopathic principles, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery.
