The educational responsibilities of the department span the delivery of education to TCOM 1st and 2nd year DO students, mandatory 3rd year CORE rotations in OMM and in Family Medicine, FM, ONM and combined FM/ONM Residents, statewide GME programs, and CME programs for physicians.

Medical City Fort Worth is our educational partner for graduate medical education. Our residency programs are top notch and sought after by highly qualified candidates.

Clinical

We aim to provide a medical home and comprehensive quality care for the entire family at our clinical sites as well as specialty care of musculoskeletal, sports medicine and osteopathic approaches to systemic diseases in our specialty clinics. These include the Health Pavilion on campus, and our Seminary Clinic in Fort Worth. We are proud to offer inpatient care for our hospitalized patients at Medical City Fort Worth.

Research

Our collaborative and translational research program is involved in interdepartmental, interscholastic and interdisciplinary projects. From local funding of student and resident projects through NIH/NCCAM funded clinicians, our diverse program in osteopathic manipulation and family medicine as it relates to biomechanics, aging, orthopedics, clinical and bench research is a leader in the national effort to enhance osteopathic medical education and research.

Service

The Department also stresses the importance to our students of giving back to their communities in Texas through our Community Resources course which results in students providing 2000 hours of service to over 70 community service organizations in our community annually.
