Valubility of the Month May 2022
Nominated by Haley McKeefer Hearn for Be Visionary
Lauren has made an immense impact on the College of Pharmacy and its student pharmacists with the most notable recent achievement being planning our first Pharmacy Formal (or “Pharmal”) in 2 years. During our virtual year in ’20-21, Lauren dutifully served as our class Activity Chair. In this position, she organized multiple social events for our cohort in attempts to normalize our very unique student pharmacist experience. When we were physically isolated, she had the vision to find ways to bring us together through virtual game nights. It was no shock that she was later elected as our College’s ’21-22 Executive Activity Chair. In this role, Lauren brought the same work ethic and vision that she had for us in virtual curriculum. Despite challenges with snowstorms, COVID variants, and hybrid curriculum, she stepped up to collaborate with our 5 other Executive officers to: 1) a 250-student back-to-school social; 2) a bylaw change for Activity Chair responsibilities; and 3) a 200-student Pharmal that celebrated the year we successfully completed. It’s not a shock at all that our student body has now elected her as our ’22-23 Executive Student Government President. Lauren always brings a smile and laughs to those around her. Her impact allowed our cohort the chance to know each other and to find comfort in the weirdness we were experiencing pharmacy school in. Lauren’s efforts and kindness are appreciated now and will be felt for years to come.
