Section I: Quick Reference to Parking and Traffic Regulations

1. Permits Required for Access and Parking: The UNT Health Science Center requires a University parking permit to access and park at all campus properties unless the vehicle is parked at a parking meter or in a marked loading zone.
2. Classes of Permits
   1. Reserved
      1. An employee of the University who meets the requirements of the Reserved permit listed in Section VI: Parking Permits. Reserved permit holders may park in designated Reserved spaces.
   2. Faculty
      1. A faculty employee of the University who meets the requirements of the Faculty permit listed in Section VI: Parking Permits. Faculty permit holders may park in designated Faculty spaces.
   3. Employee
      1. An employee of the University who meets the requirements of the Employee permit listed in Section VI: Parking Permits. Employee permit holders may park in designated Employee spaces.
   4. Student
      1. Any registered student of the University is eligible. Student permit holders may park in designated student spaces.
   5. Motorcycle
      1. Any faculty, staff, or student of the University with a motorcycle, moped, or motor scooter is eligible. Motorcycle permit holders may park only in designated Motorcycle parking spaces.
   6. Will Rogers Surface Lot
      1. Any faculty, staff, or student of the University is eligible. Will Rogers Surface Lot permit holders may park only in the designated spaces located at the Will Rogers Memorial Center surface lot on Gendy Street.
3. Permit Restrictions: Purchase of a permit does not guarantee a parking space on campus. Purchase of a parking permit grants the privilege of parking a vehicle on University property. Permit holders are prohibited from lending or otherwise allowing anyone to use their permit.
4. Permit Ownership: Ownership of the permit remains with the University and is not transferrable.
5. Visitors: All visiting, event, and conference parkers must have a permit to park on campus unless parked at a paid parking meter or prior arrangements have been made with the Parking Office.
6. Loading Zones: Vehicle operators may park in a marked Loading Zone for 30 minutes to load/unload a vehicle. The vehicle’s emergency lights must be flashing. There are no permits required for loading zones. Once the loading/unloading process has been completed, the space must be vacated and those not obviously in the process of loading/unloading will be cited.
7. Lot/Garage Closures: On occasion, the Chief of Police may close certain parking lots and/or parking garages for University events.
8. Speed Limit: The maximum speed limit at UNT Health Science Center campus properties is ten (10) miles per hour at all times, unless otherwise posted.
9. Posted Signs: Posted signs, whether permanent or temporary, must be obeyed at all times. Posted signs take precedence over painted curbs, pavement markings, and designations shown on any University map.
10. Parking Improperly: Detailed parking requirements for University property are listed in Section V: Parking Regulations.
11. Enforcement and Impoundments: Failure to abide by these regulations may result in the issuance of a university citation, application of an immobilization device, and/or impoundment of a vehicle.
12. Appealing a Citation: University parking citations may be appealed within ten (10) business days from date of citation.
13. Bicycles, Mopeds, Motor-Assisted Bicycles, and EPAMDS: All must be operated in accordance with and conform to the local, state, and federal regulations.
14. Pedestrian Rights and Duties: Pedestrians must obey all traffic control devices. Pedestrians have the right-of-way at marked crosswalks, in intersections, and on sidewalks extending across a service drive, building entrance, or driveway.
15. Disabled Vehicles: If a vehicle becomes inoperable, a telephone call must be made to the Police Department Dispatch at (817) 735-2210. The Parking Office will either render assistance or authorize temporary parking. Temporary parking shall not exceed 24 hours and must not create any obstruction or hazard.
