IBC Meeting Schedule and Protocol Submission

Who needs to be registered with Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)?

All work involving biohazard agents, recombinant and/or synthetic nucleic acid molecules, use of human blood, body fluids or tissues, gene therapy, use of USDA agents or CDC select agents must be registered and, in some cases, approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) prior to initiation of work. It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator to submit a completed IBC application/registration to the Institutional Biosafety Committee

IBC Protocol submission process (NEW)

All activities involving potentially biohazardous materials (pathogens) must be registered with and approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee. Before any research with biohazard material can begin, an IBC Protocol will need to be reviewed and approved by our Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).

If your research involves any rDNA or synthetic DNAshRNA, siRNA or viral vectors, please complete the UNTHSC-rDNAsDNA-Safety-plan-2022 and IBC-rDNA-Review-Checklist
Changes to your approved protocols can be submitted using the UNTHSC_IBC_amendment_form.
Clinical research involving biohazard material ( Human fluids and tissue analysis0 -complete the UNTHSC-Pathogen-Safety-plan 2022.
Clinical research involving ONLY sample collection by trained professionals – complete Clinical Research Registration form.
