IBC Meeting Schedule and Protocol Submission

Who needs to be registered with Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)?

All work involving biohazard agents, recombinant and/or synthetic nucleic acid molecules, use of human blood, body fluids or tissues, gene therapy, use of USDA agents or CDC select agents must be registered and, in some cases, approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) prior to initiation of work. It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator to submit a completed IBC application/registration to the Institutional Biosafety Committee

IBC Protocol submission process (NEW)

All activities involving potentially biohazardous materials (pathogens) must be registered with and approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee.  Before any research with biohazard material can begin, an IBC Protocol will need to be reviewed and approved by our Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).

IBC meeting schedule

The deadline allows sufficient time for revision of the draft submission to ensure an administratively complete application is available to the committee in an effort to expedite review and approval. Incomplete submissions may necessitate a delay in consideration to a subsequent meeting. For questions regarding the protocol submission process, please contact the Bio Safety Program Office (ibc@unthsc.edu).

IBC meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 12 Noon to 1 p.m.
