Student Health Insurance Overview

All eligible students are required to have and maintain health insurance coverage while enrolled at HSC. Eligible students are automatically enrolled in the university Student Health Insurance policy with the option to opt out with verification of comparable coverage. Comparable coverage must meet the minimum standards as outlined by the federal government’s Affordable Care act, in addition to providing inpatient, outpatient and prescription drug coverage.

Degree seeking domestic students enrolled in the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences (excluding MedSci online students) and College of Public Health are exempt from the insurance requirement and can enroll on a voluntary basis as long as credit hours do not exceed 50% online.

Check out the My AHP Care website linked below to explore the student health plan, enroll, opt-out, or access your account. View the Insurance FAQ page for more information.

All students are eligible to purchase optional vision and dental plans. Enrollment in the student health insurance plan is NOT required in order to participate. Enrollment in and payment for these optional coverages is the sole responsibility of the student.
